KILKIVAN HORSE RIDE: Annually on a Saturday in April close to Easter up to 1100 horses, riders and horse-drawn vehicles start from five points around Kilkivan Shire, travel 20 - 30kms through some of the most picturesque country in South-East Queensland, then meet up for the grand parade through Kilkivantownship.
Street activities provide fun and entertainment in Kilkivan while spectators await the arrival of the horses. Following the parade, riders relax at the Tom Grady Campfire Concert at the Kilkivan showgrounds, with a fully licensed bar and catering by local community groups.
After breakfast on Sunday morning Pony Club and Team Penning events run throughout the day. Bush camping is available for the weekend at the showgrounds or you can stay at a variety of venues.

Gympie Garden Expo
GYMPIE GARDEN EXPO: You will find something for everyone on Saturday May 2 and Sunday May 3, 2015 as the Gympie Garden Expo once again promises to shine with fascinating plant displays. It hosts one of the states largest collection of orchids with Gympie’s annual competition. There are informative talks, with the ever popular plant clinic and market stalls offering plants, art & craft, and a myriad of garden accessories to compliment the home gardener. Try your hand in entering the Horticultural Society plant competition or display your home garden in the competition for best of Town & Country, Novice and a new Over 75 section. This year will focus on the sustainable lifestyle with permaculture displays and specialised gardening techniques for the community. Gates are open from 8am- 4pm on Saturday and 8am – 3pm on Sunday. Admission is $5 each day with children and parking free.

MARY VALLEY SCARECROW FESTIVAL: With spring comes the energy of new life and the Mary Valley strips away winter with a blast of creativity known as the Mary Valley Scarecrow Festival. No longer just functional statues to scare the birds off the crops, these new generation beings can surprise and delight. Scarecrow spotting is the name of the game, as visitors travel country roads looking for straw creatures, arty sculptures and other creations honouring the age old tradition of building scarecrows. Scarecrow season opens mid September, with the 'crows heading off mid October. It's been a part of the Mary Valley scene since the late '90s, and you can find scarecrows from Conondale and Kenilworth through the coast hinterland north to Dagun. It's a great excuse to tour through Mary Valley Country.

GOLD FEVER FESTIVAL: The Gold Fever Festival is the new Gympie Gold Rush Festival which is an annual celebration of the discovery of gold in Gympie in 1867 and the subsequent establishment of Gympie City.
2013 sees the introduction of a Chinese theme recognising the contribution the Chinese made to Gympie’s gold mining history and its diverse heritage. The new branding of ‘Gold Fever ’ ensures lots of excitement, colour and noise that only the Chinese could bring to early Gympie many years ago and which will again be enjoyed in this year’s festival.
Volunteers are already constructing Rickshaws for racing which will be held on the site on the old Chinese Market Garden site on the family day of the Festival, this will be accompanied by a dragon dance. the Main Event Day, Parade Day, Family Party, Mardi-gras, Carnival Day, call it what you may. This is a day you can’t afford to miss.
